Cinema du jour 19 - Singers with Guitars

This is part 19 in our continuing series, Cinema du jour, the movie of the day. Home made music videos have always been popular on YouTube. The first huge success in this genre came with Terra Naomi's great song, "Say It's Possible". Recently, Miaarose has become an overnight sensation. In this post, we'll watch four music videos from four different YouTubers who play their guitars and sing their own songs.

Before we get to the videos, I want to invite you to read about the YouTubeMall project. This will be a free service that allows all videomakers to create Stores to advertise what they have for sale. Many videomakers have PayPal Donate buttons, or CafePress Stores, or sell CDs or paintings. You will be able to advertise all of this, and more! The idea is to have one central place for all videomakers to list their projects/items for sale. But what if you don't have anything to sell? We'll have that covered too! You will be able to be paid for viewing rights to exclusive videos that you post to the site. There will me more on this in the coming weeks...

Is This Love?

Creativefisher is one of my favorite YouTube singer/songwriters. She has a captivating voice that she uses to bring her moving lyrics to life. But Char is much more than an aspiring musician. She is a talented artist, and this aspect of her personality adds depth and emotional texture to her videos. Watch this one, which was featured by YouTube, but be sure to also check out the four new videos she uploaded last week!

Leave me alone by Jesse Stutsman

Here's a cool music video from stealurface1976. Jesse is a Canadian man who plays acoustic guitar and sings to original songs and covers. He has done classic rock covers from Tull to Tucker and even The Beatles. In this video, we'll hear Jesse sing an indie inspired original rocker that really caught my attention. I think it's a great song!

KRIS SHRED - I'm Broken V2 (Original)

The last time I wrote about KrisShred, it was for his "Insane Nonsense Song" which was later "covered" by lipsyncer extraordinaire, celestialsam. That song is still stuck in my head! But Kris has done many other music videos, including a powerful cover of The Doors "Crystal Ship" 60s classic. Today, we'll watch him sing an original song that I recently discovered and loved! Ignore the headphone clamped to his head which he used as a mic (lol!), and enjoy this rocker!

Angels (song)

Periurban is one of the most popular singer/songwriters on YouTube. He has made over 150 videos and has over 3000 subscribers. Peri, a Scottsman, was the winner of Renetto's "How to become popular overnight" contest. That might have helped him get some viewers, but I think they would have found this talented and personable man in time, even without this publicity. You can watch Peri sing and discuss videomaking on YouTube or at LiveVideo. Here's a song he did in December. Click on the description to read the excellent lyrics!

Cinema du jour 18 - This and that

This is part 18 in our continuing series, Cinema du jour, the movie of the day. In this post, we'll watch videos starring a talking cat, a girl with her bunny, a man who is constantly being watched, and a "good guy".

I also want to let you know that you can now add videos from LiveVideo to your "My Favorite Videos" list at the YourTubeStats website! Keep all your YouTube AND LiveVideo favorites in the same place, on YTStats!

Curiosity the Cat defends Renetto

Renetto's cat, Curiosity, makes a video! This is a very funny movie starring a very pretty kitty. He looks a lot like my cat. Cat owners will really appreciate this video, but everyone can watch and enjoy!

P.Bunny & NotSoLonleygirl21

Have you seen Kratzlaff yet? She sure does look familiar! Kratz is a 21-year-old woman who lives in Hawaii. She has uploaded 100 videos; most are very good! She looks quite a lot like someone else I've seen on YouTube... but I just can't figure out who she looks like... Watch this video, please! Who does she look like???

Watch this video on YouTube.
If you liked that one, watch this one too!

I: Episode One

There's a new very nicely produced and edited movie series on YouTube called "I", by iChannel. Their profile sets the stage for the series:
What if you were broadcast for the world to share? A self-conscious young man has his life taken over by a video blog.

It seems that everywhere this man goes, there is a webcam watching him. Watch the series from the start, at Episode One, below, and see how this affects his life. It starts off a bit slow, but stick with it! iChannel is up to the 9th Episode so far; watch them all!

Winter Fun and Events

It's cold outside!!! This is a good time to stay indoors. While you're inside, have a look at these YouTube videos about Winter Fun or Winter events. =D

Kenny the Snowman
Kenny? Kenny who? My name (pen name) is Kenny... Is this... about... me??? Just like Carly Simon sang in her 70s hit, "You're so vain", when I saw this video appear in My Subscriptions list, I thought that maybe this video was about me. "I bet you think this song is about you, don't you, don't you?" You can imagine my delight when I discovered that, indeed, this video is about me!!! Okay, well, not about me really, LOL. The always charming, creative and entertaining YouTube videomaker, Angharad a.k.a Darahgna (more here, here and here) made a delightful snowy fun film about her creation of a snowman... and she named it Kenny, after me! Watch and see!

YouTube GATHERING - UPDATE SF
Mister Safety, also known as Cory on the smpfilms YouTube channel has been working hard to coordinate this YouTube member event. This gathering, taking place at Pier 39 in San Francisco on February 17th (next Saturday), was organized by Cory, not by YouTube/Google. He did receive some financial help from The Fizz, but says that all attendees are paying for their own travel and hotel expenses. You'll recognize some of the confirmed attendees: Paperlilies is coming from the UK, TheHill88 is coming from Australia, Renetto is coming from Ohio (see below), and Ysabellabrave is going to be there too, WOW!!! If you are going to be in San Fran next weekend, check out this event!

Will SAN FRANCISCO survive the YouTube INVASION?

He'll be flying in to Los Angeles and then he'll drive with new Lonelygirl15 castmember NickyNick on a roadtrip to the North. They plan to do some filming during this trek; stay tuned for footage!
